However, the vet, being a pretty smart cookie herself, started playing this little game with Bella to help her get over her fear of the water. She would throw small treats into a water bowl to entice Bella to interact with the water. The results were hilarious.
This was a first for me. Have you ever seen a dog blow bubbles before? Does YOUR dog blow bubbles? Will they dunk for treats or are they more likely to pussy-foot around? Happy Monday, everyone!
Thanks to Alfie, Snoopy, Luna and My Brown Newfies for bringing us the Monday Mischief Pet Blog Hop. Make sure you hop on through to the other blogs and see what trouble our various critters manage to get into. |
Honey drinks like that even without treats in the bowl. :0

Clever! Seen our guys do all kinds of things with or in water, have to admit, never saw any blowing bubbles :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was the thing to teach your dog to do a year or so ago, blow bubbles:) Lots of videos on Youtube on training it. Looks like Bella is a natural though! She certainly looks like she's having fun there. Clever vet, nothing like some lateral thinking.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! My guy has blown bubbles before and will actually stick his long Collie nose up to his eyeballs in the water to get a drink if the bowl/creek/lake is deep enough. Never seen anything like it!! Enjoyed the video.
ReplyDeleteMy guys will do that to get a stick out of the water when playing fetch. My first corgi would put his whole head under water to retrieve his beloved frisbee!
ReplyDeleteLOL Too cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea! Looks like she thoroughly enjoyed it too!
ReplyDeletePetal blows bubbles too. She went through a phase where she refused to drink water (I later realized she would happily drink if the water was being poured, so we got a pet fountain and she drinks plenty now), hoping she'd get some water with the treat and she'd blow lots of bubbles as she dived in. She did this up until she realized she could just tip the water bowl over, spill the water all over the place, and snatch the treat (she often makes me feel stupid, haha). To this day if she sees a small bowl of water on the ground, she'll tip it over regardless of whether or not there's a treat in it. Thankfully she doesn't even try this with the pet fountain, otherwise it might be a daily thing. Little stinker.
Bella is too cute. I love that she asked for more! Haha.

Hey, this game looks fun! What a clever vet Bella's got!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea! My dog will actually dive underwater after big rocks and try to bring them up lol.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Bella, it's overcoming things a little at a time!!
ReplyDeleteToo cute, and great way to get her to like water! I've never tried having any of them bob for treats before (although I don't suspect it would be an issue for Toby) - but I did use treats to get Meadow used to the wading pool last summer and it worked like a charm. :-)
ReplyDeleteA few of the pack are really silly with water bowls. Breeze loves the big water dish outside and will always stick her feet in and splash around. I put ice cubes in the water dish and Azule was (accidentally) blowing bubbles while trying to grab the cubes.
ReplyDeleteHow did the water therapy go?
