I've had this video tucked away waiting for just the right moment to unleash its adorableness on the world. The moment is hardly perfect but today seems to be the day if only because I don't have the energy to pull off anything else. (I promise, I'll stop whining about being sick any day now.)
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this video of the crazy, silly dog waiting at the back door of her (former) BFF, Maggie. This is why I still have hope that the two girls will work out their differences and be BFFs again... (Edited to add: Since many are wondering what happened between Bella and Maggie, I haven't actually written about that yet - it's complicated. But the beginning of the story can be found here: On Meeting Maggie
My apologies to those having trouble viewing the video. I don't know how to get around it not playing on the iPad etc but this version might work to get around the YouTube content dispute (which, for the record, isn't impacting MY playback of the video. Hrumph...) I'll have to work on it tonight. It really is going to be one of those days. :(
If neither of these are working for anybody, can you please let me know in the comments? Thanks.
Thanks to Alfie, Snoopy, Luna and My Brown Newfies for bringing us the Monday Mischief Pet Blog Hop. Make sure you hop on through to the other blogs to see what trouble our various critters have gotten into over the weekend. |
Hope you feel better soon and the girls can be BFF's again. Funny video!
ReplyDeleteAwww, man! It wont let me watch the video!! I hope you get to feeling better soon!
ReplyDelete~Higgins
Aww, sorry about that Higgins. I'm trying to see if I can get another upload of it (I usually use youtube because Blogger videos won't play on the iPad but it looks like this version of the youtube video won't play on it either.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. It's just going to be one of those days, I think. :(
I hope you feel better soon! Like Higgins, I can't watch the video
ReplyDeleteDachshund Nola
Hi Bassetmomma, :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I've about had it with not feeling well. Given how terrified Bella is of almost all dogs now, it's hard for me to remember when she had a bff. (Long story, that. It's coming...)
That is one very happy doggie right there! Anyone who still keeps barking on about dogs not having any emotions should watch that video - its impossible not to smile at her joy! :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, such excitement. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI wanna play, I wanna play! Don't you just love the energy? Get well soon!!
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know the top one had a copywrite issue with EMI (I guess it was the song) but the second one worked perfectly! Talk about excited to play...wow there was a whole lot of fun loving energy there! Sweet!
ReplyDeleteGet well really soon.....seems to be some icky bugs going around as I have son that has been sick since last Wednesday.
Second one works! Great video
ReplyDeleteDachshund Nola
that video was great. i just love seeing dogs all excited and happy like that. they're so full of LIFE. i hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeletePerfect uplifting Bella! And great music too! Made my tail wag..made my whole body wag! Hope your human feels better soon! Mine had a bug last week and I had a lot of snuggle time!
ReplyDeletehope you feel better soon! Let me tell you a secret...I learned this when I would pour my heart out on loooooong posts.....people prefer the "hit and run" and LOVE photos and videos!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI learn that every time I do a long post! :)
Yay!! I could see the second video - I'm on a Mac - you sure are funny Bella and Maggie final came out!! Woohoo!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your Mum is better soon,
Wags,
Your pal Snoopy :)
Both worked for us! Love the video and backing track - one of Mum's favourite tunes- she has it as her ringtone! She says not to tell anyone, but she's been ever so slightly in love with Debbie Harry for over 30 years..(sad old git that she is...hehe!) Deccy x
ReplyDeleteSince I've just started reading your blog I have no idea what happened to stop Bella being BFF with Maggie - how sad, when she obviously used to love her to bits! I hope you can sort out whatever went wrong!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you haven't been well. Neither have we .. since it hung around so long and kept causing relapse after relapse, we decided in the end it must have been genuine flu. I hope you feel better soon. :)
Sorry you're under the weather, Leslie:( Hope you're fighting fit ASAP! I can see both videos on my iMac but haven't tried on my iPad. I was trying to watch one of mine on Youtube the other night on my iPad but it wouldn't play, something to do with the song which I think was either a Guns N Roses or Metallica one. They're not licensed to play on an iPad. Maybe Debbie Harry isn't either?
ReplyDeleteLove Bella in the video. So much joy at the prospect of seeing Maggie. How sad they're no longer BFF's. It would be wonderful if that could be changed:)
Hope you are feeling better! The second video played for me, but not the first one! Where can I read the posts that tell me why the girls are not BFF's anymore? (sorry, I'm late to the party and very curious!!) Bella is such a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, Thanks for dropping in. I really have to learn the value of a "link backs". :) I just added a link to the post where I first discuss Bella and Maggie. I haven't actually written about the 'fall-out' yet because (as I note above), it's complicated. Here's the link if you care to read the beginning conversation though: http://www.bringingupbella.com/2011/10/on-meeting-maggie.html
ReplyDeleteThe short version is Bella (already afraid of dogs) was (unbeknownst to us) being terrorized in her own home/yard by a neighbor's dog who freely roams the neighborhood (yes we have leash laws). The dog was out (putting Bella on high alert), the girls were playing, they got tangled in their leads, Maggie's owner reached in to untangle them, Bella (also afraid of people) lashed out at Maggie (thankfully not the owner). No contact was made (Maggie has a nice thick coat). Maggie's owners are understandably nervous about getting them back together but willing if we can ever get our schedules coordinated.
(Yes, that IS the short version. ;)
It really is tragic that they can't play together now. Although personal circumstances have changed recently (my neighbor got a new job! Yay Ron!) that may allow us the time to reintroduce the girls again. We'll pull in our magician friend and trainer and I think we'll be okay.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, I ate food last night for the first time in a week that didn't immediately want to depart my body so the health is improving. :]
Hi Jay, yeah, sorry about that - I'm still learning. While I haven't actually written about "the incident" yet, I mention it here: http://www.bringingupbella.com/2011/10/on-meeting-maggie.html It's a bit complicated and involves another dog, a human and a really bad reaction to a whole lot of fear. We do have hopes of reuniting the girls, especially after we were able to do so with Bella's good buddy, Gus, this past year.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear everyone at your place has been sick. I tend to get everything that goes around the office so I got a double-whammy last week as both a cold and a stomach bug went through my group (and my body.) Ick. Anyway, feeling much better now. Hope you all are too. :)
Ha! You Mum's musical taste should not surprise me at this point, nor does the fact that she's been in love with DH for oh so many years. Haven' we all? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Snoopy. I know what's happening now and unfortunately, it means I can't use either one to reach everybody. (And neither works on the iPad.) Hrumph.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit. She's kind of a crazy kid. Oh and yeah, we're feeling better here finally, too, so it's all good. :)
LOL - yeah, there's always that, isn't there? Thanks for dropping in. :)
ReplyDeleteHi ho, Scrappy, my friend. I hope your humans are feeling better. It was an awful week but we're on the mend here. Bella's sparkling personality definitely helped (although snuggling isn't really her strong point.)
ReplyDeleteIsn't she a riot? I couldn't help but put the music to. I know it made me laugh. :]
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks for trying again. I hope you felt it was worth the return trip. :)
ReplyDeleteYup, that's my crazy energetic dog. We had no idea what we were getting into when we brought her home. :]
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on the playback. I've seen the audio disabled before but not the entire video. That's a little frustrating. (They really shouldn't be able to prevent my video from playing just because they don't like the audio since we know they can mute the audio. I'm definitely going to be following up on that.)
Aw thanks, friend. We're definitely on the mend. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I love the energy when she's getting it out of her system with Maggie. Not so much in the middle of winter when she has few outlets for such. ;) That's how we ended up in Agility for Reactive Dogs class.
Thanks Mary. We're getting there. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so true! You look at her, there's not a whole lot left to question about her emotional state, is there? Nice take on it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. I'm glad I was able to find a way to make it work even if it's not quite perfect.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Mum was slightly disconcerted to realise that the gorgeous Ms Harry will be 67 this year :-( She is now feeling ever so slightly old herself! Queuing up to see her in 1978 seems like only yesterday. Hehe! Deccy x
ReplyDeleteI couldn't watch the video, it came up as blocked due to EMI content. (Did you put copyrighted music to it? I've had that problem with some of my own videos)
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon.
Hope you're feeling better. Sick blows. Bella, however, does not. What an adorable video! And, pooh on YouTube (I have one of those videos, too, except mine played Willie Nelson). All the more reason to block those Internet bills from passing.
ReplyDeleteAwww this is so sweet! She's so excited to go out with Maggie. I hope you could find time to talk about what happened... that is after you're done with the work project.
ReplyDeleteHuggies and Cheese,
Haopee
The second video played great for me!
ReplyDeleteShe is so excited!!! It looks like she would be a great playmate for Leroy!!
Hi Donna,
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was kind of surprised - usually when they dispute content, they block the audio - in this case they blocked the video too - which, I have to be honest, kind of pisses me off because it's my video and since we know they can block the audio separately, I don't know why they blocked the whole thing. Of course, as our friends in Oz and the UK can watch the video with sound, they only blocked it in the US. (But it still plays for me - in the US.) So grumble grumble...
So I've been able to get a version that works for play on a computer but not the iPad (which is kind of frustrating since I USE an iPad.) It's just been a grumbly kind of week all the way around. ;)
Oh, and thanks - it appears I am finally on the mend. :)
Thanks - feeling much better now. I don't mind debugging apps but it's kind of frustrating when something works in one place but not in others... Or works differently. (If they disputed the music, they should have removed the audio - why did they block the video?) Anyway, rant off for today but yes, I think we need to block the bills.
ReplyDeleteThanks much, Haopee Go and thanks for visiting. I do hope to cover what happened because, honestly, it's a topic that not only affects us but, as I'm learning, more and more people as well. (Loose dogs, lack of owner control, consequences for those of us with reactive dogs...)
ReplyDeleteI am fully optimistic that the relationship can be repaired especially now that our neighbor's schedule has returned to normal and he has time to work with us.
Oh I do so wish we lived closer. Leroy would be so good for her. (And let's face it, if she did misbehave, she'd never actually reach skin and all he'd have to do is sit on her. ;)
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, we are trying to set up a meet and greet with a new potential playmate - a Great Pyrenees our trainer thinks would be a good match for Bella. I don't think they're quite as uniformly gentle as Newfies but we're hoping it will be a good match. Bella really does love to play with other dogs, she just needs to be able to trust they will respect her fear. Will let you know when we get that scheduled and how it goes.
Cute video - hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pup Fan. I am on the mend. (And on the bright side, weigh a few pounds less than when this whole thing started. ;)
ReplyDeleteCouldnt watch the first one but the second one was great..Feel better soon♥
ReplyDeletePlease visit my blog to collect your latest award! Deccy x
ReplyDeleteThat's such a happy video! It's great to have BGFs!
ReplyDeleteGeorgia used to have a few [she goes through them like underwear]. But the one I'm saddest about losing is Tara. They were both pretty much like Maggie and Bella in the video every arvo when it was almost time to meet. Then Georgia has a big dogfight with Tara's housemate, [which I wrote about] and that was that. They're no more than cordial with each other now.
The emotional lives of our dogs are more complicated than we think :)
Thanks. Feeling better already. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for saying this. Sometimes it feels like everybody out here has the perfect dog and it's only my crazy Bella that's such a bad girl. I like to think she's not bad, she's "complex".
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go dig out your post about Georgia and Tara. And at some point I will write the story of what happened with Bella and Maggie. I'm still hopeful there will be better stories to share of them in the future... :)
Aww, Deccy, what have you done? :] You're too good to me. Thank you.
